Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport Concludes TSA Support Supply Drive

March 30, 2026

As of this morning, local TSA leadership has confirmed that officers have begun receiving pay following the partial government shutdown. As a result, donations are no longer being accepted.

Over the course of the drive, the Baton Rouge community showed remarkable generosity and support for TSA agents who continued reporting to work each day without pay. Contributions from local businesses, community organizations, passengers, and individuals helped provide essential food, meals, and everyday necessities to support these dedicated professionals and their families.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who stepped up to support our TSA officers during this challenging time,” said Mike Edwards, Director of Aviation. “Their commitment to serving the traveling public without interruption speaks volumes about their professionalism and dedication.”

Thanks to the resilience of local TSA personnel and the overwhelming support from the community, BTR did not experience the operational disruptions seen at many other airports across the country. Passengers continued to benefit from the convenience, efficiency, and ease of travel that Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport is known for.

“This is the heart of what we pride ourselves on at BTR, a travel experience that is convenient and hassle-free, powered by people who care deeply about their work and their community,” Edwards added.

BTR extends its sincere appreciation to every individual and organization that contributed to the success of the supply drive. Your support made a meaningful difference and reflects the strength and generosity of the Baton Rouge community.
