Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, September 15, 2010—Passenger enplanements at the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) were up 20.05% in August with 32,134 passengers boarding flights at BTR. Deplanements (arriving passengers) were up 17.47% at 33,177 passengers. Year-to-date, the BTR total passenger count is up 5.83 percent.
Continental had the biggest year-over-year passenger gain in August with a 19.41% increase in enplanements that gave them the second highest market share among BTR carriers. Delta maintained its number one status in terms of passenger share.
With the addition of the new US Airways service, the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport is served by four of the world’s largest airlines—American Eagle, Continental, Delta, and US Airways—to five major hubs in Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Atlanta, Memphis, and Charlotte. All three of the Global Airline Alliances are represented among the BTR carriers.
